I promised that Quitless® would operate as a fully transparent organization. Some may find this foolish. But, to me, it is paramount. Especially, in today's business atmosphere where consumers deserve full disclosure and employees deserve fair treatment. This mentioned:
It is my hope that we can eventually produce our own products. Or, partner with an organization that is fair to all along the supply chain. Today, it's apparent that most manufacturers are using foreign labor. I am fine with that if they or an independent third-party are monitoring for fairness.
For now, we are using apparel products manufactured by Bella + Canvas, based in Los Angeles. They are certified by WRAP - Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production. Bella+ Canvas also shares on their website that they are committed to maintaining and upholding a responsible workplace and environmental standards. And, they have a page highlighting their 12 principles. You can visit their website here.
Next, I believe that work gives one a sense of purpose. For too many years I thought it was what defined a person. I am not certain how that happened, however, as I began to have a family, I realized that it simply wasn’t the case - for me, anyway. Yes, I believe we are all called to work. And, I believe that our work should be with a company doing things in a fair and responsible manner to employees, customers, and our environment. Nonetheless, after several years working with larger for-profit corporations, I worked for Illinois’ largest provider of services for people with disabilities. I was involved in the management of their support businesses. The primary purpose of these businesses was to provide employment to those we served. I witnessed just how inspiring it was for people with disabilities to earn a paycheck. It captivated me as I had never been directly involved in such an environment. If you have never seen a person with disabilities get handed a paycheck, I suggest you do. It is the reason why I will do my best to employ such populations or partner with an organization that is doing so.
